I have the honour to acknowledge
the receipt of your Despatch No. 53 of the 30th. March

last transmitting for my consideration a copy of a letter
from the Admiralty on the subject of the transfer to that
Department of certain lands at Wanchai.

With regard to paragraph 4 of the
Admiralty letter, I am prepared to agree to their sugges-
-tion that Clause 3 of the Memorandum of Transfer should
be amended to the effect that in the event of the Colonial
Government resuming possession of the whole or any part
of the green area it shall refund the whole or proportion-
-ate part of the premium paid viz.:- $11,772, in addition
to paying compensation for any buildings thereon.

I cannot agree with the conten-
-tion of the Admiralty in respect of Clause 5 of the Memo-
-randum that Mr. May, by raising no objection in his letter
of
